Job Description
The General Manager (GM) will oversee and supervise daily operations, ensuring that the business runs efficiently and effectively. This position involves directing and coordinating the activities of various departments, managing financial and budgetary aspects, and ensuring that all organizational objectives are met. The GM will also be responsible for implementing policies and procedures, as well as performing key personnel functions such as recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Supervision: Oversee and manage daily business operations to ensure the organization runs smoothly. Assign specific duties to staff and monitor their performance to ensure objectives are met.
- Business Coordination: Direct and coordinate activities across various business functions, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
- Financial Management: Direct and coordinate financial and budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, and increase operational efficiency. Prepare and analyze financial reports to guide business decisions.
- Policy Implementation: Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures in collaboration with department heads and staff members. Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Personnel Management: Perform key personnel functions, including the selection, training, and evaluation of staff. Ensure that all employees are properly trained and equipped to perform their roles effectively.
- Performance Evaluation: Regularly assess the performance of teams and individuals, providing feedback, guidance, and support to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of business strategies and ensure that the organization’s objectives are met through effective planning and execution.
- Efficiency Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness by streamlining processes and implementing best practices.
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior management, department heads, and staff to align operational activities with overall business objectives.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration
- Experience: 12 months+ of experience as a General Manager or Operations Manager, with proven expertise in supervising operations and managing budgets.
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct and motivate a diverse team.
- Financial Acumen: In-depth knowledge of financial principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and investment management.
- Operational Expertise: Solid understanding of business operations, process optimization, and resource management.
- Policy Implementation: Experience in developing and implementing organizational policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Personnel Management: Proficiency in personnel functions, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
- Decision-Making: Ability to make sound decisions and lead the organization through complex challenges.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing business environments and lead through uncertainty.
- Technology Proficiency: Proficiency with business management software, financial tools, and communication platforms.
